Itinerary for Popular South India Tour:
Chennai-Mamallapuram-Kancheepuram-Pondicherry Chidambaaram-Tanjore-Trichy-Madurai-Rameshwaram-Kanniyakumari-Kovalam
Day 01 : Arrive Chennai
Upon arrival into Chennai you will begin your Popular South India Tour as you are greeted by the Mystical India representative and transferred to your hotel.
Day 2 : Chennai
After breakfast you will have a sightseeing tour of the city visiting Kalakshetra Foundation, the Temple of Art after lunch your sightseeing will include a visit to the Flower Market, Marina Beach, Santhome Cathedral, Parthasarathy Temple (Vishnu Temple) and Elliot Beach before returning to the hotel. The evening is at leisure. Overnight at hotel, breakfast included.
Day 3 : Mamallapuram
After breakfast you will drive to the seaside village of Mamallapurum to visit the famous Shore Temple a most outstanding example of Dravidian art and architecture and later you to view The 5 Rathas and many other UNESCO World Heritage sites. Overnight at hotel, breakfast included.
Day 4 : Mamallapurum
After breakfast you will drive to the ancient city of Kanchipuram (the city of 1000 Temples) where you will visit Kailasnatha and Ekambaranathar Temples, and tour a cottage industry well known for its silk saris. Lunch will be provided in a traditional home. Return to the hotel this evening and enjoy the remainder of your day at leisure. Overnight at the hotel, breakfast and lunch included.
Day 5 : Chidambaram
Early morning today you will drive to Pondicherry, capital of the French colonies in India since the 17th century. Here you will have time to enjoy breakfast and a few hours at your leisure to discover the area. This afternoon you will drive to Chidambaram and visit one of the oldest temples of Shiva (Nataraja Temple). Overnight at the hotel, breakfast included.
Day 6 : Tanjore
After breakfast you will depart the hotel for Tanjore, the ancient capital of the Chola Kings. On the way to Tanjore you will visit Gangakondacholpuram, and Darasuram Temples which are both designated UNESCO heritage sites. Upon arrival in Tanjore you will visit Brihadeshwar Temple, the bronze art gallery, Saraswati Mahal Library and a local cottage industry for bronze statue making. Evening arrival at the hotel. Overnite at hotel, breakfast included.
Day 7 : Trichy – Madurai
After breakfast you will drive to Trichy where you will climb to visit the unique Rockfort Temple which is situated on top of a hill, enjoy the view but we must leave early to avoid the heat. After lunch we will depart the hotel for Madurai, Southern India’s oldest city with a recorded history going back to the 6th century B.C. On the way you will visit Srirangam Temple. Upon arrival into Madurai you will check-in to the hotel and have the evening at your leisure. Overnite at hotel, breakfast included.
Day 08 : Madurai
After breakfast you will depart the hotel for a tour of the city of Madurai by cycle rickshaw which will feature the Gandhi Memorial Museum, Tirumalai Nayak Palace, Madurai Markets and the famous Sri Meenakshi Temple. Please ensure you bring along suitable clothing for temple entrance. This evening will be at your leisure to enjoy this amazing city.

Day 9 : Rameshwaram
After breakfast you will depart the hotel for the town of Rameshwaram, which is an island in the gulf of Munnar here you will visit Ramanatha Swami where you will view the traditional religious activities of this area. Next you will enjoy a spectacular beach walk before departing for the hotel. This evening will be at your leisure to enjoy. Overnite at hotel, breakfast included.
Day 10 : Kanayakumari
After breakfast you will drive to the southernmost part of India to the town of Kanayakumari where you can enjoy an unprecedented beach walk as this is where the Indian Ocean meets the Bay of Bengal and joins the Arabian Sea. After arrival this afternoon you will have the rest of the day at your leisure. Overnite at hotel, breakfast included
Day 11 : Kovalam (Kerala)
After breakfast you will visit Kanayakumari Temple, and then you will take a public boat to visit the Swami Vivekananda Rock Memorial & Thiruvalluvar Statue. After lunch you will drive to the state of Kerala 敵ods own country where you will overnite in Kovalam. Overnite at hotel, breakfast included.
Day 12 : Kovalam
As the tour comes to an end you will have the day at your leisure to relax before your long journey home to engage in your regular routine.
